The historic area that encompasses the neighborhoods of Walnut Hills and East Walnut Hills features elegantly restored turn-of-the-century mansions and older homes that are ideal for renovation. With roots that date back to the 18th century, the community grew up around the First Presbyterian Church and attracted wealthy residents to premier home sites. Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in Walnut Hills and the Lane Seminary played a vital role in the anti-slavery movement. Like many long-established areas in any large metropolis, Walnut Hills and East Walnut Hills are undergoing revitalization, much of it spurred by proud residents and community leaders.
